Xerox C405dnm Restrict Colour Use

We understand that keeping your printing costs to an absolute minimum is vital.  Our products offer very low running costs compared to convential desktop printers, however you can reduce cost further by ensuring colour pages are not printed when black & white is all that is required.

For the Xerox C405dnm the procedue below explains how best to do this.

 

Web Interface

 

Enabling Xerox Standard Accounting

 

  1. In the Embedded Web Server, log in as administrator (Default Admin, 1111), then click Permissions > Accounting Method. Note: If you previously set up an accounting method, then click Permissions > Accounting > Accounting Method.
  2. In the Accounting Method area, for Xerox® Standard Accounting, click Select.
  3. Select Custom Tracking, then click Setup.
  4. Select Track Colour Only for Prints & Copies & Do NOT Track for Scanned Images & Faxes > OK
  5. When prompted to restart the printer, click Change.
  6. After the restart has finished, log in as administrator.

 

Creating a User Account

 

  1. In the Embedded Web Server, log in as administrator, then click Permissions.
  2. For User Accounts, click Add.
  3. For User Name, type the user name (2583)
  4. Click Add > Log Out.

 

Login/Logout Settings

 

  1. In the Embedded Web Server, log in as administrator, then click Permissions.
  2. Login/Logout Settings > Simple > Edit > Type in their user name > OK

Driver Setup

 

Download and Install the Global PS Driver from http://www.support.xerox.com/support/global-printer-driver/downloads/enus.html?operatingSystem=win10x64&fileLanguage=en_GB

 

  1. Devices & Printers > Right Click Xerox Global Print Driver PS > Printer Properties
  2. Configuration Tab > Accounting Codes > Setup > User ID: 2583 > Account Type: Default Group Account
  3. Print-Time Prompt: Only Prompt for Colour
  4. Mask User ID: Enabled
  5. Remember Last Enabled Codes: Disabled
  6. OK
  7. Devices & Printers > Right Click Xerox Global Print Driver PS > Printing Properties
  8. Advanced Tab > Printing Defaults  > Xerox Black & White: ON (user can change this default for a specific job when they need colour).
  9. Apply (optional change from 2-sided to 1-sided)
  10. OK
